History

Burn Brite was established in 1955 in Melbourne, Victoria and commenced with the development of portable fluorescent safety lights for motor vehicle repair workshops as well as industrial and leisure applications.

An extensive range of lighting products has been released over the last 55 years including solutions for adverse environments such as oil rigs, food processing, petrochemical, paper mills, marine, military, mines and many others.

Hazardous area lighting and associated equipment were introduced into the product range, with Certificates of Compliance for above ground gas groups and hazardous dusts gained during the 1970’s. Equipment was then provided for on and offshore petrochemical complexes, coal conveyors at power stations and coal and grain ship loading terminals.

Since 1979 Burn Brite has provided lighting products for use in gaseous underground coal mines. In 1984 an innovative longwall lighting system was developed and currently the majority of Australian longwall mines are fitted with Burn Brite turnkey lighting systems. Many of these mines now use Burn Brite’s Intrinsically Safe Power Supply to power either DBT or Joy roof support control systems. Mine equipment lighting and a longwall lighting system have also been exported internationally.

In 2007 Burn Brite became a Member of the Ampcontrol Group and now has the support of an international network of engineering resources.  To cater for its expanding sales in Australia and overseas, Burn Brite operates from a 4,200 square metre site in Bayswater North Victoria, housing its manufacturing, R&D, service and administration operations.

Burn Brite continues to innovate with the introduction of LED technology into many of the lighting ranges.  Providing high efficiency, minimal maintenance and a robust build quality, all Burn Brite products are ‘Built to Last’.
